ED Visa Structure & Duration
The ED visa for studying Thai at a language school is initially issued as a 90-day visa. This visa can be extended within Thailand, allowing you to continue your studies based on your chosen program duration.
At Experience Language School, we offer 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month study programs. Your total stay is achieved through a combination of visa issuance and extensions in accordance with Thai immigration regulations.
For extended study periods, you may be required to apply for additional extensions or a new ED visa. Our team will guide you throughout the process to ensure a smooth and well-managed experience.
Please note that ED visa conditions for language schools may differ from those for universities, and all approvals are subject to immigration authorities.
Arrival & School Registration
Once you receive your 90-day Non-Immigrant ED Visa and arrive in Thailand, you are required to visit Experience Language School within 7 days with your passport.
This step is essential for completing your registration and allowing our team to submit the necessary documents to the Ministry of Education in preparation for your visa extension.
Visa Extensions & Compliance
As your initial 90-day visa approaches its expiry, you will need to extend your stay at the Immigration Office. Extensions are a standard part of maintaining your ED visa status.
Each extension costs 1,900 THB. During the process, you may be asked simple Thai questions to confirm your participation in the course. Regular attendance and progress will help ensure a smooth extension.
In most cases, students who actively attend classes receive a 60-day extension. Failure to demonstrate progress may result in a shorter extension period.
90-Day Reporting Requirements
All ED visa holders are required to report their residential address to Immigration every 90 days. This is a routine requirement and not related to visa extensions.
Your first report may coincide with your initial extension if you have remained in Thailand. After that, reporting can be completed online or through an agent, without the need to visit Immigration in person.
Reporting must be completed within the designated timeframe. Late submissions may result in a fine of 2,000 THB.
Re-Entry Permit Guidelines
If you plan to leave Thailand during your studies, you must apply for a re-entry permit before departure. Without this permit, your ED visa will be automatically cancelled upon exit.
Re-entry permits are available as single-entry or multiple-entry options and can be obtained at Immigration offices or major airports.
Please note that a re-entry permit does not replace your visa extension requirements. You must return to Thailand before your extension expires to maintain your visa status.
